10 WAYS TO BECOME MENTALLY STRONGER
Why is mental strength important in the workplace?
It is important because it allows people to be more productive; more efficient, and more conscientious of the work they are doing. In education, good mental strength has a direct impact on educational achievements at all levels of education.
Good Mental Strength –
Why It’s So Important For Performance
1. Take 15 minutes a day to self-reflect
You probably look in a mirror most days and are as familiar with your appearance as almost any other sight.
But how often do you look inward to become more familiar with your inner self?
That is the crux of self-reflection: to know your inner workings as well as you know your outer form
The journey into self-love and self-acceptance must begin with self-examination. Until you take the journey of self-reflection, it is almost impossible to grow or learn in life
– Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche
2. Do at least 1 tough thing every day
Whether you sign up for a new-task or join any work space, do something that forces you to step outside your comfort zone. Facing your fears head-on can shift the way you see yourself. Rather than assume you need to avoid hard things because you might fail or because you can't tolerate the stress, you'll chip away at your self-limiting beliefs.
3. Develop positive self-talk
Self-talk is something you do naturally throughout your waking hours. People are becoming more aware that positive self-talk is a powerful tool for increasing your self-confidence and curbing negative emotions. People who can master positive self-talk are thought to be more confident, motivated, and productive.
4. Give up one bad habit
“Habits play an important role in our health,” says Dr Nora Volkow, director of NIH’s National Institute on Drug Abuse. “Understanding the biology of how we develop routines that may be harmful to us, and how to break those routines and embrace new ones, could help us change our lifestyles and adopt healthier behaviours.”
5. Identify challenges and set goals.
Challenges and set goals stretch your mind and cause you to think bigger. This helps you accomplish more. Each success you achieve helps you build a winning mindset. Commitment is also important.
6. Identify your
strengths and
weaknesses
Knowing your own strengths and weaknesses gives you a better understanding of yourself and how you function.
Understanding your strengths keeps you ahead in a lot of things. For instance, if you are looking at career options, you would be able to narrow down specific job scopes based on the things you know you are good at.
It also helps you to grow more. Knowing what you can excel at enables you to aim higher and achieve much more.
Knowing your weaknesses gives you a clearer understanding of things that may be holding you back, and you can then work around finding ways to not let your weaknesses pull you behind
7. Journal daily:
record what you
have gratitude for.
While it's important to analyze and learn from bad events, sometimes we can think too much about what goes wrong and not enough about what goes right in our lives. A gratitude journal forces ourselves to pay attention to the good things in life we might otherwise take for granted.
8. Write down 10 ideas every day: this will build your idea muscle
Why you should Write down 10 ideas every day?
Here's the simple reason.
What happens if you don't walk for a month? It can lead to leg muscle atrophy.
Likewise, if you don't train your brain for a month or two, your idea muscle can lead to atrophy. In simple words, your brain will make you ask these questions instead of coming up with ideas on its own.
So the bottom line? If you want to make your brain smarter, start brainstorming new ideas every day. And coming up with 10 ideas/day is a good start.
9. Take care of your physical health.
"My body is a cage that keeps me from dancing with the one I love, but my mind holds the key..."- Peter Gabriel.
I was struck by these words when I first heard them. They made me think about the relationship between the body and the mind, between the "physical machine" and the soul, between physicality and spirituality. Is body different from the mind or is it just a 'cage' we are living in? Is it a functioning machine that turns our individuality on or is it a part of the whole more complex mechanism? These are all the questions that have been asked by different generations of philosophers, scientists, and there isn't a single and precise answer to it. But one thing we can be sure of is that "a healthy mind is in a healthy body." Indeed, when our bodies are functioning well, when we do not feel any pain, we can produce something important with our mind; on the contrary, when we are in pain, our bodies are weak, it gets too difficult to pass that pain and concentrate on something else. That's why we should take good care of our bodies and pay enough attention to it.

Having a growth mindset (the belief that you are in control of your own ability, and can learn and improve) is the key to success. Yes, hard work, effort, and persistence are all important, but not as important as having that underlying belief that you are in control of your own destiny
10. Create a healthy environment
Maintaining a healthy environment is central to increasing quality of life and years of healthy life. Globally, 23% of all deaths and 26% of deaths among children under age 5 are due to preventable environmental factors.
Poor environmental quality has its greatest impact on people whose health status is already at risk. Therefore, environmental health must address the societal and environmental factors that increase the likelihood of exposure and disease.
“My mind is my greatest strength. I lock myself in my head and tell myself I’m invincible and nobody can beat me”
- Kelvin Gastelum
